Am I blowing out spark or is this detonation or something else?

hmm.... that is strange.

new wires shouldn't cross fire, but unplugging the trailing and that fixing the problem makes you think maybe. especially since you changed coils

I'll have to think

no trailing isnt going to hurt you too much, and you have a lot less chance of detonation.

i might pull them again. it just sucks not having the tach. the problem has calmed down some. seems to only do it at around 2000-3000rpm if i'm flooring it. before it would do it anytime i loaded up the engine and was building boost.

if by getting to the bottom of this, you mean stuffed the front end of the car under a ford fusion, then yes. It's totaled. mostly cosmetic, no frame damage.

guy actually picked the car up today and is going to make a track car out of it.

Nah, shame to hear that though.

So i'll assume you never resolved the trailing misfire?

no, I never resolved the misfire. It seemed to come and go. As long as I didn't go wide open throttle below 4,000rpm it never did it. even then it seemed to misfire more when it was warmer out (like over 50* outside) than when it was freezing cold out.
I guess I'll never know what was causing it
thanks for all the help anyways guys. hopefully i'll get another 7 one of these days.
