I made one for my aftermarket front bumper, I set up a sheet of carbon fiber flat on a panel of linoleum, them made a carboard template, traced it onto the carbon cut it out and fixed it to my car, it seals the gap between my front bumper and the oil cooler. It was pretty easy to make and being made of carbon looks good filling the big front opening that looks so vacant with my IC moved up(H mountish setup)

Its not even available in the S5 parts or collision catalogs.

The S5 aero package is considerably different than the S4 one.

This is the S5 package... note the complete lack of a under panel:


As mentioned earlier the S4 Aero package was wheel spoilers in front of each wheel, a front lip spoiler, the rear spoiler and the vented aluminum undertray between the back of the front suspension cross member covering the oil pan and very front of the tranny.

I also wouldn't rule out either Mazda making a mistake or that a mechanic at the dealer put one on by accident.

I can just see two dealer morons (I mean mechanics) each working on a FC (a T2 and a Sport) taking parts off and putting them on the bench, and one of them putting the T2 back together and saying, "well this panel should be on the expensive car right?"

 

So what exactly are all the benefits of having said piece of aluminum on the underbelly of the car? Does it fit an S5, and is it a part to be found at a dealer or anywhere else if the benefits are worthy?

Lowers drag at speed. It apparently made enough difference for Mazda to use it on the S4 cars with aero package.

Typically, Mazda doesn't just add on something like that (something you can't normally see) unless it really does something.

Will fit all FC3S without modifications, and FC3C with modifications.

 

That would make sense since the FB43 is a model designation for the Sport

That's a big flippin pan man! You did say it was aluminum right? Just curious to know what it weighs? and how thick is it?

 

Yes Im alittle intimidated with making one. But Ill try my best and see how it goes. Im sure they are $8billion from mazda.

 

The 56-111B is undersized in the picture, so the alum panel looks bigger

 

They weigh about 1 LB

 

The aluminum pan really isn't very big at all. Local dlr list price 147.25. Mazdaformance $105+

Does this pan have to be removed everytime you want to change the oil?

 

If you don't have this pan, you most likely have a plastic version of the exact same thing. So if you can remember the big 3'x3' plastic tray under your car, that's what this pan is, just made out of aluminum instead. No, you don't need to remove it to change your oil.
