It would probably work better on a turbo hood, despite not being able to polish the scoop.

It's cool, but if you have any dents you definitely can't fill them! and I don't know where you'd find clear coat to stick to that? Then again I know there is a primer that sticks to aluminum and goes on clear, so once you get that on you could probably clear coat, I can't remember the name but it was either diamont or lymco.

I'm saying the polishing would look better on a turbo hood since it has some more facets to it and hence would make for more interesting reflections instread of just looking like a flat mirror.

there was a guy around my area with a very polished hood. Man was it blinding under the sun. Looked like he replaced the hood with a giant mirror.

Good luck when driving towards the sun!

See the pic below... even when we were cranking out B-17s so fast to bomb the ***** that we didn't bother painting them, some strategic paint still went on:

Not a fan. Maybe if you stripped the whole car to bare metal and polished it .

As for the B-17, look just in front of the cockpit windows. See the flat black painted area? It's there to help the pilots from being blinded from the sun comming off of the Aluminium.

yes the OP of the pic says "strategic painting" and posted this pic specifically because of the olive drab paint preventing reflection, there's really no need to explain it, its rather obvious

Vw?

I like the comparason with the RR. WTF? No, not even close.

It reminds me of the rusty VW hoods that were the rave a few years ago.

There is a thick, black line (not fine) between custom and hacked. This looks hacked and like some ricer hanging out in a Auto Zone parking lot on a Friday night did it.

You will need to acid etch, wash, and clear coat with a two part Imron or such. Check with products for sail boat masts or aero paint shop. Let un-protected it will oxidize, blacken and look like crap. For my mast i checked with a airplane paint shop but they wouldn't touch it (some FAA smoke screen) and ended up taking it to Dallas.

Very bad idea for a daily driver. What about bug juice etching the hood?

If it is a show car only then it would be better if it was a TII hood.
