alternator spacer in front or behind ?

Question alternator spacer in front or behind ?

Pulled motor last october and now puting it back in but dont rember if the round spacer goes in front or behind the thermstat housing it looks like the belt would line up both ways? 88 na

Huh. I think I might have put my spacer in wrong. I'll have to take a look at that tomorrow. I thought the belts not lining up perfectly was just a side effect of the dual pulley I have on there.

haha speak of the devil today i just noticed i put it in the front instead of the back last month , and i can tell the belt is tring to stretch forward. i better fix it before it breaks the belt...

Eh. It just leaves a lot of belt debris on the alternator/engine/etc. I ran with it wrong for close to 10,000 miles without a problem. Just fixed it today, in fact. It no longer smells like burning rubber when I rev it high!
