Alternator rebuild kit

Anyone know where to find a rebuild kit for a 100amp 3rd gen alternator? I believe the voltage regulator on mine on my FC crapped out cause i had to keep the RPMs above 1500 for it to charge. I really hate to get a reman one from anywhere cause i know the quality is more miss than hit, and i can’t find anyone locally that rebuilds them

TIA

I just verified that it is my alternator, i took the battery out to charge it, grabbed a test light and put it on the main + battery cable and the + on the battery and it lit up and pulsated. So i put it on the main lug on the alternator and put it on the + of the battery and i got the same result, so I’m fairly certain the regulator went bad

Just out’ve curiosity, i have a s4 alternator that was a reman, could i just swap out the regulator? Are they the same?

So remember how I said I HATE remans? I got a reman from rockauto and put it on today, I drove it 4 miles back home and the voltage started fluctuating before I got it back home!

So now I gotta figure out how to get to work tomorrow......

If i had the extra cash, i would, but being i just bought a house, i can’t lol

I went out and tried to see if maybe i didn’t get the pulley tight enough, but all i did was spin the engine with my breaker bar. So i started it, and it shot up to 14 volts. I left it running, and turned the headlights, heater, radio, and rear defrost on. We’ll see how its doing after i eat breakfast

Well, it did it again, after it gets warm it quits charging. Must have a break somewhere in the windings or the regulator. I thought Delco Remy was still a decent company, guess no one is anymore

Not to beat what is probably already a dead horse, but since a new alternator or a rebuild kit is already in your future, I'd go for the Taurus alternator. Cheap, available, and rebuildable at (almost) any shop. It will probably be easier in the long run.

I already got a alternator from rockauto, it was a delco remy one, I literally just put it on yesterday and i got 6 miles out’ve it

I have seriously considered the taurus alt, but the 7 is my summer daily/gas saver so i wanted to get it back going quickly with a quick bolt on and go....which i kind’ve got

the Remy FD alternator is:

Country of Origin (Primary) United States
Country of Origin 2 Mexico
Country of Origin 3 China
Country of Origin 4 Japan
Country of Origin 5 Canada

not quite sure what that means, but IMO its not a sign of quality

and in the 21st century very few companies selling stuff in the US actually makes or does anything, typically its just a reboxed part from somewhere. or in other words, since everyone buys the cheapest part, the brand literally means nothing anymore.

The sticker that was on it said it was reman’d in USA, which at the time put my mind at more ease

I ordered another from rock to replace this one, who knows when it will get here though, the last one came from florida
