Alternator question

I searched and found some info.... but i wanna be absolutly clear... I'm switching from S4 to S5 alt and wanna make sure that the w/b and b/w wires are correct... One wire is black with 1 white stripe and the other is black with 2 white stripes... which goes where??

and also i had the car running and at first it read straight 12v on the dash... then it jumped all the sudden to 15v!!!! So i emidialty shut the car off... then later came back and tried again with the wires switched... it read 12v even... i turned on everything i could in the car and it dropped to like 10v but idle wasnt affected....

any help would be great..

thanks

If you have an S4 OEM harness, the top wire is black/white, and the bottom wire is white/black. I think you have an optical illusion going on with your "black with two white stripes".

I do believe the positions of the wires must be switched on the S5 alts, but don't quote me on that
