Question Alternator question

The Alternator that is standard on the 2nd gen (87 N/A) sucks. Does anyone know where to buy a replacement higher Amp Alternator from? I can't find it on Mazdatrix.

some guys have been putting FD alternators on their cars, I think it takes some form of shaft/ pulley modifications to get it to fit, though...

Here is a how-to about putting the FD alt into your car: http://www.1300cc.com/howto/how2/fdalt.htm so that should give you an idea about how difficult it is. But look at the result, it sounds like it might not be worth it:

Hmm not as much inprovement as I had hoped for. but I did have the best FC one (80amp). 86-88 whould improve more. But we'll see later. only drove for 20 mins so far. it's up to 12.5-13v now at idle with everything turned on.

I've got several other members and non that beg to differ with that somewhat poor description on the upgrading to a FD Alternator. lol
