alternator pulley getting hot???
just started me car up for the first time in about 2 years and other than the timing being off a little i noticed that after running for less than 1 min. my alternator pulley got so hot when i touched my hand to it it burnt me. first i thought that the belt wasnt tigened correctly but i checked it and it was ok, i looked at the voltage and thats fine too. checked the allignment and its right on, and the puley seems to spin fine by itself. the only thing im thinking is i either have a bad bearing which does not seem likley or the belt is slipping. there is a small abount of oil on the belt from a large oil leak but could it cause the belt to slip that much even at idle? and there is oil on the other belts too but there not slipping, or at least there not getting hot.

The alternator will get hot very quickly when running, especially if it's pushing high loads (like recharging a battery). Was the alt as hot as the pulley?
Any weird screaching sounds?

the alt itself is getting warm but i think its mostly from the pulley/bearing. and yes there is kind of a weird like whirring/whining noise but i dismissed that as engine that hasn't been run in two years noise. so now im kinda leaning twards a bad bearing, ill check tomorrow and see if i can feel any bad spots.
