Alternator problems

1988 with TII swap and S5 alt swap.

did it the right way and drove for a month with it the way NZconv.. says. Now randomly when the car gets warm , the alt shuts off...then turns back on for a little bit...then turns off ect..ect. Only happens when I rev it high and its warm what could it be? im prolly just going to get it rebuilt...but wanted to see if anyone has 2 cents.

I woudn't say that a bad alt. warrants a rebuild, but if you were going to do it anyways then be my guest! I would check all the wiring over again, it could be that something is loose along the way. Then I would think about getting a new alternator cuz it sounds like it's failing.

Slipping belt or loose pulley hub? Large wire on the alternator tight and it's lug holding the wire on good? OR just gone south on you. Loose terninal on the engine fuse box where the other end of the large wire on the alternator terminates? OR the alternator just went south on you.

Next time the gauge shows zippity, open the hood to see what the voltage output is on the alternators large terminal. If the headlights have been dimming when this event has been happening to you, then there's no sense in doing that. Just do the things in the first paragraph.
