It's very simple, a hinge bolt and a fixed bolt. Stick a srewdiver under it and pry up till the belt is tight and tighten down the fixed bolt. I bought one on ebay the other day for 10 bucks, plus $15 shipping. It works great. I have an n/a but used an alternator from a turbo, apparently they are the same.

Duffmangt, just a suggestion. If you are up for It, I can send you a FD Alternator fitted for the FC. It's worlds different than the FC's Alternator output. Details can be found In my stickied thread within the 2nd Gen Parts Forum.

no problem to install, but one IMPORTANT thing:
always unhook the negative battery cable before messing with the alternator. otherwise it is very easy to arc it, which at the very least will blow your main fuse, at worst could ruin all kinds of stuff, especially the voltage regulator in the alt.
