Alternatives to the factory convertible top?

I like to open the top a lot and the targa section just added an additional step. Anybody out there has try to install a simplified convertible top with no targa section? I kind of like the simple operation in the miata. Also did anyone try to make a hard top for the vert.

I kinda like the hard top part but never have figured out why it comes off... If I want it down, I want it all down, and really very easy.... especially with the latch cover's and the wind breaker gone

THey did that so you could have the very top of it off while stil lhaveing the back up. Like a roadster, I use it when its extremly hot outside and need a little shade...but still want some open air up top
