Alternate Fuel pump kill switch connection?
Ok, I wanted to hook up my switch to another place other than the connector under the dash. I was thinking about connecting my switch into the connector for the fuel pump back in the hatch. Its raining and I need to install a switch. I would connect it under the dash but Im a tall freak and cant do it without having the door open and part of my body sticking out. Rain sux.
SO..
Does anyone know which wire powers the fuel pump back there? Would it be a good idea to run the switch from those wires?? My car is an '88 TII. THANKS!

i installed a switch for my fuel pump, but mine is hardcore and ran a wire straight from the battery to the fuel pump with a switch in my dash.
if you're looking at the back of the plug (the side that is connected to the fuel pump) it should be a white wire with a red stripe (not EXACTLY sure on that) and it should be the top left of the four (looking at the side with the terminals) on the side of the plug that is a black wire (there are two)
and when you're looking at the inside of the plug that is on the car side (not the fuel pump side) it should be on the top right (the one that connects to the one that is striped with red)
maybe that all sounds confusing

I don't think I'd use that wire.. it's got 10amps or so going though it. you are better off to get it closer to the front on a relay some how. or add another relay to the back with your switch.
PS if you use that wire in the back you'd want the switch in the back. other wise you are added like 10' or wire to the path if you mount the switch in the front, cutting into the back.

Is there another wire thats easier to access for my switch?? If not, I'll bust out a yoga video and fold my self up under the dash.
