I hope you guys got rid of that silly motorized antenna... who the hell thought to put that 5 lb monster in a sportscar?

dont forget the rear winsheild wiper, wiper motor and resevoir... all together another 5 lbs plus you get rid of the turbulence the rear windsheild wiper creates.

When you guys get really ganagsta... put driving lights into the FTP's and get rid of the entire headlight assembly/motors.

I'm seriously thinking abount getting rid of the entire sunroof assembly and just bolting some lexan to the roof but I kinda like the idea of having atop I can open... and ideas how much that assembly weighs? If its more than 20 lbs I''m going for it.

Have you guys ever realized how heavy the glove box door is?

What kinda weight is there under the car to get rid of? My car is too low for my jack to get under... gotta get on of those low profile jacks.... or maybe some ramps.

Wonder how much the dash weighs?... and how much that heater/blower/air contoller unit weighs. I already deleted the A/C but I still use the air mover for hot days... I stuff it with those blue packs you put in coolers to keep drinks cool and turn on the blower... works pretty good.

+10 for SCCAITS's interior. Looks like a lot of time and care was taken put into that.

i'm one of those dorks that likes the lazy eye look so i just took out the motor assembly and bolted the rod that holds the light up to the car in the position i like.

- anntenna has been gone (didnt work anyway, just made noise.....and i have a windshield one)
- windshield washer fluid tank - gone (never had a rear wiper (thats just gay))
- i've taken things out that wiegh practically nothing. still got to wiegh it tho.

Personal opinion, but what's the point of gutting a street car? I mean, obviously there's the "add lightness" aspect but really, how much weight are you going to save? 150 pounds at the most. Carpet and trim weigh nothing. Removing the wipers to save 5 pounds?! Pulling the power antenna to save another 5 pounds...

Maybe some people like driving around in a tin can, but I'll never get it. I'll sacrifice the 50 LBs to keep the interior of the car not looking like something I pulled from a scrap yard...

its only for the true hardcore guys that are always searching for that extra 5 mph, or that extra millisecond down the quater.

I'm guessing u have a TII. most gutters are NA's that dont have much power to begin with and are willing to go the extra mile for that extra 5mph

i wieghed all the crap that i took out (on a bathroom scale) trust me.....it adds up.
I took out at least 300lbs (i didnt wiegh everything)
Stock HP is 145@2625lbs
which means for every 18.1034482759lbs that is removed, u gain 1hp.

u kno what some nascar/drag/F1/GT/ drivers would do for 1 more hp when that checkerd flag is waving 300 yrds away when another car is right beside them?

That's understandable. It just seems odd to compromise 99.999% of driving for that 0.001% where losing that weight actually matters.

I don't own a TII.

For the life of me I can't see how it's possible to remove 300 LBs from the interior of a 2nd gen unless the car is a complete gut. As in complete removal of dash, door panels, sound deadening, spare tire & jack. The stock seats are rather heavy, so I guess a good set of aftermarket replacements might pull 50 LBs. Still, more then 300 LBs sounds unlikely. Carpet and trim just doesn't weigh that much...

You don't gain any HP by removing weight. You are just using the power you have more efficiently.

u kno what some nascar/drag/F1/GT/ drivers would do for 1 more hp when that checkerd flag is waving 300 yrds away when another car is right beside them?
Well if I'm ever driving F1 and am that close to the checkered flag as someone begins to overtake, I'll then worry about 10 LBs. On the street though, if I really need that extra few HP, I'll just turn the boost up 1 PSI.

your right.....a gutted interior will only shave, MAYBE, 50lbs.
but if your that hardcore to gut the interior. U better beleive your next step is everything else.

Anntenna-
air pump-
spare tire and jack-
Seats- (racing seats now)
Ac + piping and condenser-
ps-
The rubber crap on the floor-
washer fluid tank-
rear wiper and washer fluid tank
ect. it really goes on forever.

I'm not trying to start anything......i actually have a lot of respect for your opinion Aaron Cake. u've helped me before and many other ppl. Just saying, it can be done.
