Already Thinking... Torch the RX-7

Well, it's finally hit me. Rebuild #1 ( less than 100 Miles from when I bought the car ).

After tearing the engine out, I found that hoses, and engine mounts, etc. Must be replaced. I AM getting my motor streetported. And between it all, I'm looking at around a $1200 price tag, with me doing all the work. I'm having to borrow money from family, in order to complete this little project ( No Job, I thought this car was a good buy, and didn't need work. $800 saved after the buy, now all gone )

Please tell me this is worth it!

I have to replace EVERY non-metal part in the engine. Some metal parts.

On to some damned questions.

I ripped the engine apart, taking out all the gaskets on the block, all the seals, EVERYTHING. I need to buy new 2pc. Apex Seals, and that's all I know ( I have no idea of the springs associated with 2pc. Seals ) What I need, is a list, or a link to a list, of the NAMES of all the seals, jackets, etc. EVERYTHING that needs to be replaced. Please someone help me. I want to know what it's like to be a rotary owner!

Here's what I KNOW I need

2pc. Apex Seals ( Don't know what kind of springs are needed )

FD Corner Seal Springs

Full Gasket Kit

Other than that, I'm clueless

Whatever apex seals you buy should come w/ springs. If they dont then I'd say buy any "heavy duy" springs they have if your using 2piece.
The FD corner seal springs are much better than the FC, I dont even know if you can buy the old style ones anymore.
The full gasket kit for your car is $160 from mazdatrix i think.
Other than that: main and rotor bearings if you need them. You might as well replace the side seal springs too while your at it.
I think your on the right track though...

Spend $10 and get a Haynes manual and download the engine rebuilding section from the service manual that's online. You'll save yourself a lot of time and headaches with the info and pictures you'll find there. Do a search in this forum to find the url for the manual.
