New to the board. Just purchased an 88 GXL yesterday with approx. 135k miles on motor and chasis. Completely new to the rotary thing. Also have a 91 Eclipse GSX that is sitting in the garage. Time for me to learn some new stuff I guess.

It's runs pretty good. I need to have an alignment done....starts to shake at around 50 mph, but no big deal. I've enjoyed it so far. Can't wait to get the little stuff out of the way to get to the bigger stuff.

LOL i had a 91 Eclipse for a year b4 i bought my 87..
sold the eclipse last summer though.. no room in the drive way... very nice cars to drive though... if i were to have to choose between my RX and another car that would probably win

yes yes yes... the GXL. good snag, very clean looking car! more pics more pics!
first rule of the rotaries: your powerband is way up there. the more I get used to my car, the higher my rpm range becomes.

Thanks for the compliments. I really like the color. Just need the windows tinted now. I'll take more pictures once I fully detail the car inside and out. Have to find a good spot. Those pics are on the good side. The previous owner put silver tape on the driver side window to hold it up. Looks kinda ghetto. But I'll have that motor soon.
Other than one occassion, I haven't gone beyond 3k rpms. Once I have an alignment done, I'll take it to thru the 1/4 mile to see what happens. And I'll go try some auto-x stuff as well.

I see it has the mandatory backwards directional wheels. Any s4 rx-7, no matter how clean, how low-mile, or what enthusiast owned it, MUST have at least two backwards directional wheels.
Other than that, very nice. Just don't try and make a racecar out of a GXL..enjoy it for what it is. A fun car to drive that still has several options.

I will add a few aftermarket items but I don't expect a monster to be born from this car. It's main purpose is to be a daily driver.
Get a spair motor, any who as ever had a 7 knows this to be fact. I have a spair and soon to be working on my 2nd spair
