All metal radiator purchase

Hey guys,

I am in the market to replace my leaking radiator. It's for a mostly stock 90 vert. (NA).
I would like for the new replacement to be all aluminum, and around $200. What is a good brand aftermarket radiator? Does anyone know where to get said radiator? I looked into eBay, but I would prefer a real business for this purchase.

I also would like to replace the upper and lower radiator hoses while this is out of the car. Please let me know.

Thanks for any and all help!

You can buy from a "real" business on ebay, but you won't find an all aluminum rad like a nice koyo for any less than 300....even on ebay.

I'd suggest searching your local for sale section and maybe making a WTB thread in there. Your local enthusiats will help you out.

I have the all metal non aluminum radiator from CSI, same rad sold at radiatorbarn. It works fine on my n/a 90 vert. They also sell all aluminum.

Are you looking for a drop in replacement or a universal type?

FSR has great double pass, all AL radiators for under $200

What is the difference? The rest of the engine compartment is basically stock, so it would be restricted to the size of the stock one.

If it were me and my seven i would spend the extra 100 and get a koyo. Typically if I have to replace a part due to failure or age, i always upgrade if its not an intrusive upgrade. A radiator is a good example, the performance ones are bigger but fit fine. Similarly a failed alternator is a good canidate for an upgrade to an FD (3rd gen) unit.

The Koyo is a bigger radiator but does not cause any fitment issues in a stock engine compartment.
1) make sure you get the fan shroud mounting kit.
2) SAVE YOUR SIDE BRACKETS (from your old radiator)

weird, everyone I've talked to about getting a upgraded radiator has told me to stay away from Koyo... rather to get a Northern or Griffin radiator. they have a larger capacity and are about the same if not cheaper than a Koyo.

the FSR radiators are universal radiators, meaning you would have to make brackets to hold it in place. i'm sure the 26" one would fit just fine in the stock location. you might have to relocate the battery on second thought.

carzy driver is right, your just paying for a name with koyo and fluidyne. there are much better radiators out there for a fraction of the cost (even after the little customization that may be needed).

Thanks for all the replies. I should clarify my request. I want an aftermarket radiator that will replace the stock one, without having to move the battery, and one that I do not have to fabricate any mounts for. Links are always helpful. Thanks again!

I purchased a Koyo rad for my S4 from Absolute Radiator.com, it came out to $330 shipped. The hottest my cooling system has ever been was 225' F, climbing from sea level to 3000 ft in 6 miles (8 west back to San Diego) in 105+ F weather. As I remember it, there were a handful of cars broken down on the side of the road and one of the 7's in our group had to shut down.

My normal operating temps don't exceed 195' (city driving).

I can't comment on the other radiators, but the Koyo works great.

Note that all of these stores carry koyo radiators. There might be a reason. For one, koyo (and fluidyne) are made to fit FC RX-7s specifically. And the koyo radiators are heliarc welded, not brazed or epoxied, which is good.

While a Koyo is not in my car yet, it will be soon.

Remember, this is an RX-7, not a Mustang. It deserves spending a little extra.
