All Hail the mighty Gen 2 owners.... I need some advice...

So -
I have been searching around for some wheels for my 89 vert.
I found some on craigslist in my area, but the guy doesnt know much about the wheels he is selling....

He knows that they came off a 95 Supra (Same bolt pattern as us) 5x114.3.
The problem is the offset. He has no idea what the offset is. I told him he can look at the inside of the wheel for it, but he isn't too interested in wasting his time lol.
The tires are 255/40/Zr17 (front) and 275/40/Zr17 (Rear).
Do we think these will fit? Of course it is hard to say without knowing the offset, But if they fit on a 95 Supra I am kind of thinking its a match...
Anyone agree?

You need to tell us the offset. I doubt that a 255 will fit up front though. This can help you once you figure the offset out. http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

without knowing offset, it would impossible to tell if they would fit.

But even if they were an offset that allowed the 255/40/Zr17 to fit in the front, you would probably have to roll the fender or have rubbing.

OK!!
Wheel specifics -
OZ Racing Series
5x114.3
17x10 +48 (rear)

Dont know about the front yet.

I mounted them and they fit beautifully - Sorta
They are touching the control arm.. I have 2 options... grind a little off the bar, or buy 1/4" spacers for the rear..... I dont know which to do... Anyone have any experience with wheels this size on a gen 2?
The tire size is 275 40ZR17 and they look gorgeous from the back - nearly double the width of the factory BBS wheels and tires... The tires are definately the absolute widest that could go on this car though...

Any suggestions?

You would be insane to cut/grind off any of the suspension parts. Mazda already did some major weight cutting on the suspension.

Quick question, I've got wheels that are +35 all round, however the front's are 8' wide and the rear's are 9' wide. These shouldn't have any real problems fitting on an FC, should they?

To the epilepsy dude above me, you won't have a problem fitting those wheels. Your tire will rub up front if you go wider than a 225.

To XRobber, for the rear you should get the spacer and roll the fender. Then you should go out and find a nice set of 225/40's to stretch with. And once you get the front specs, do the same and then drop it hard. Just my opinion.

You will need a +22 to +20 offset up front, and some wider fenders.

I pick up the front wheels this afternoon. I am hoping they are 17x8. If they are 17 x10, I am selling the wheels. If I keep them, I found 15mm spacers for $80.00 that I will get for the back. that should cover it.
