Alcohol safe for turbo?

I've heard that u can do the alcohol thing for passing emissions, would that be a ok thing to do for a turbo?

and "hook your airpump straight to the main cat"

would that hurt the cat at all? and is that effective not connecting the ACV?

I have the ACV blocked off right now, because there was a screw that was mis-threaded by the last person who owned the FC, i used gasket maker and blockoff plate for the ACV.
But i do not know if that will pass test-only smog and if it will be ok connecting the airpump to the cat directly

Btw, I am using a Bonez Hi-flow, hopeing that would be better

Putting alcohol in the tank wont hurt the turbo, if you dont run the car hard, and hooking the pump straight to the cat for the purpose of EMISSIONS only isnt going to harm it.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I was wondering if the alcohol trick is ok for a Turbo RX-7 and not the turbo itself, but i guess it'll work as long as i don't boost...

thanks

If you are buying true alky fuel and using it in any type of quantity there are several downsides to be aware of. Alcohol is very corrosive. If left to sit in a fuel system it will quickly attack anything metal.

Second problem and of greater concern since you'll most likely be mixing with gasoline is that the stoich mixture for alcohol is around 6.4:1. Meaning you need to inject roughly twice the amount of alcohol to achieve the same mixture as you do with gasoline. The short answer is that a half a tank of alcohol mixed with a half tank of gasoline combined with boost could lead to bad consequences.

ok,

Get an ACV but remove the diaphram which directs air inside it (behind 4 bolts for a circular cap). This will make the air be directed constantly to the cat.

Connect your airpump to the now semi functioning ACV. The acv will mix the air into the exhaust and it should get you to pass perfectly.

IF you still do not pass then get some denatured alcohol(I got a gallon from Home Depot).
If I remember right I used 1/3 of the gallon in my tank and I had an estimated 3-4gallons in the tank.

I passed perfectly.

Now you can do this with a turbo Rx but remember your subsituting GAS for somethign else. The ECU doesn't know this so it's still just humming along like everythigns normal.

I'm trying to remember but I think my car ran richer on a narrowband but I ran VERY hot. I could barely drive around town without hitting 210`f++

I used 100% Isoprophl alchol on my last emission test with no problems either.

With my current exhuast It does not allow for the use of a Split-Air Tube (no Cat either). So what I did was I used my Air Compressor that opened my Auxillary Ports from the former NA days. I made a nipple that screws Into where my GReddy EGT Guage goes. Constant 12V steady to the Air Pump was key.
