Alarm Trouble
I'm in need of some help guys. I am looking into buying a 87 gxl but the owner says the factory antitheft has locked the ignition. Here's what i know. He lost the keys (apparently w/ the alarm clicker
) and when he tried to get back into his car (with a spare) the alarm went off and he cant get it to shut off. He has had the battery dissconnected and it has been sitting for about a month. he said when you hook the battery back up the alarm comes back on, and the engine wants to start (cranks over i assume) but it wont. He said it was the factory alarm, do they come with the clicker?? or does that mean its aftermarket??? doesnt the alarm dissable via the starter...meaning it shouldnt crank over??? and if it is cranking then its not only the alarm thats wrong??? Could it be that it flooded and the alarm is going off(if its aftermarket)??? ANY thoughts or ideas would help, ANYTHING at all! Thanks alot everybody.
if you have questions, ask, im always checking the forums, thanks, im stumped.

disconnect the alarm horn so u can troubleshoot in peace and not **** off the neighbours. I dont think the factory alarm came with a clicker, its usually armed when you lock the door from the inside and hold the handel up as you close it. My factory was running off the same fuse as the lights inside the car, its a 7.5A, pull that fuse, do the unflooding procedure and try and start her up.., if you wanna start torubleshooting, pull off your steering column surround and look under there for an aftermarket alarm module... good luck

Anyone Have info on disarming an aftermarket alarm, because it can't be factory, or the car wouldnt crank.... so the alarm is going off.....and it wont start for some reason, im going to check it out in a couple of days. ANY input helps, thanks!
Oh yeah, could the aftermarket alarm have a fuel cutoff or something? how would i find out if it does.... the seller doesnt know much about the car, and he bought it from a dealer, so they probably didnt either. Thanks again.

The stock security system was not remote controlled.
It only armed and disarmed by lock and unlocking the doors, and when it is active only disables the starter, not the ignition system.

I have a factory alarm system from a '88 which I moved over to my '87TII. It goes off without warning, so I found a good way to disable.
If you remove the glove box, there is a small box on the left side which has a cable plugging into a socket mounted on the heate fan housing.
Unplug this connector, and it completely disables the alarm system.
I have pix if you need..

I just don't get why people rather disconnect something than actually fix the problem

It's not the factory alarm in it, so its an aftermarket alarm that i cant shutoff w/o the clicker.... or how can I ??? Anyone know???? And since its not the alarm cutting the starter, what could be wrong with it???? Tons of things or not so many, and what are the first things i should check on a engine that cranks, but wont start????? How would i find a fuel cutoff switch? where to look i mean??? Any ideas or tips are appreciated, Thanks a lot guys!
I can't figger out how to attach a picture to this message, so I've linked it.
Here's a picture of what to unplug to disable the factory alarm. This stuff is behind the glove box.

BTW, I'll be storing all the photos I've taken here, so anyone can look up a shot for reference if need be.
