Alarm

Okay -
So This weekend I installed a new Viper 791XV in my car... Remote start, keyless entry, blah blah blah.... it works perfectly except for one thing - The factory security system is playing havoc when I disarm and the actuators unlock the car...
SO....
I get online and do some research...
I find 100 damn answers and NONE of them work.
some people say to unplug the middle plug on the CPU - which turns my engine light on and the car bearly runs....
Others say the brain for the factory security is on the passenger knee panel next to the 4" speaker - (not on mine it isnt)

Finally I found another answer - The alarm I have has the disarm wire .... I found a thread here saying to connect it to a specific wire in the drivers kick panel - to disarm the factory alarm when I disarm the aftermarket one...
Will that work? Before I start tearing stuff back out again, I am kind of hoping to see if anyone has been successful with that.... i dont want to pull this thing apart 5 more times for this simple issue....
TIA!!

Oh -

You should not be disabling the factory security system.

#1 On S5 models, it is built into the CPU, so disabling the factory security also disables part of the CPU (which can be a big issue on verts since on some models they run headlights and other things through it that they don't on S5 and S4 coupes).

#2 Retaining the factory security means that now there are two levels of security that someone has to get past to steal the car.

#3 the factory disarm wire is very simple to get to, coming from the drivers door in the drivers kick panel to the CPU. A single negative pulse from the aftermarket security systems unlock output (usually blue on a Viper), means every time you disarm with the remote, you also disarm the factory security.

So "T" off the the unlock wire going to your aftermarket door lock/unlock relays, and attached the "T" 'd wire to the unlock wire (green/Black) coming off the door harness or at the CPU, that you test by turning the key in the door to unlock and the wire will get ground on it. Put a diode between the two wire with the bar of the diode facing the unlock wire of your aftermarket security system. The diode will form the center of a "H" between the two wires.

And I have only covered this about 100 times.

I was asking similar questions a little while ago. My alarm install has gotten sidetracked numerous times and I was just getting back into doing it. I also have an 89 vert that I'm putting a Clifford alarm into. Clifford and Viper are both made by DEI, so the installs should be about idendtical.

On S4 86-88 the alarm was a seperate unit, I believe located behind the glovebox and you simply unplugged it. On S5 RX7s the factory alarm is integrated into the CPU so you can't simply unplug it, as you've found out. According to th12volt.com the factory disarm for our car is a light green/black (-) wire. What both you and I need to find out is what wire from the aftermarket alarm is connected to the factory disarm?

I'm getting my Clifford out of storage this week with plans to install it the next warm day. Here is the info I collected before my install got sidetracked.

Here is my thread if you haven't already found it...

This is also helpful for mazda wiring

Icemark posted while I was writing, thanks Icemark..that info was helpful to me also
