Airpump to CAT question
Airpump to CAT question
Since i moved to CO i now have to pass a smog test, so this weekend I'm going to have a cat welded back into the exhaust (i'm going to miss the free flow exhaust setup...) but i've lost the pipe that connects the Airpump to the CAT. Can i just use a hose or was the pipe important?
With my Bonez superflow cat, I use a small length of heater hose to connect it from the cat to the metal pipe, and it holds fine. Although it's only a foot or so long, it is touching the exhaust at one of the hottest parts of the car and it's had no trouble. I don't see why running hose all the way up would be a big deal, you can find a way to route it away from the downpipe/precats/whatever. Only thing I would be worried about is where it goes past the manifold where the downpipe hooks up, it's going to have to get damn close to it.
Perhaps you could find some kind of 1/2 inch metal tube, mount it in there somehow, and then put hose on both ends?

Just to make sure, you mean where it connects to the air control valve correct? If you hook your cat dirrectly to the output of the smog pump for a long period of time you will melt your cat.
Way to plug your stuff for sale VietFC :-P
If you want to leave the cat in there full time and have the stock emissions setup to it, you should really actually buy a split air pipe. It's a special check valve to prevent exhaust from making it back up to the air control valve. I'd suggest doing it right and using the split air pipe or just straight piping it after you pass. :-)

Colorado dosent have a state inspection or emissions process, so just pay someone to pass you. If you're willing to drive to the springs, I have a friend that would pass your car for $50.
