does the 4.5k resistor make the air seem 50 degrees cooler or 75 degrees cooler? i bought both, but don't know what one makes the air seem colder, i put in the 4.5 and it seems to drive smoother with better pickup

pay attention to your egt. i dont care how much power this makes, if it uses more gas. i want my car to run more efficiently.. it already uses more gas than my families suburban!

since its a 2$ mod, i want everyone to report results and with what resistor. i know that the ECU default is 60 degrees with no sensor.
especially tell us if you get better gas mileage/power..!
anyone got a sniffer to tell if your running rich?

as of having it on for a day i haven't noticed too much of a difference, but i put new spark plugs in at the same time , so i can't really judge any hp gain. the a/f gauge is reading about the same as it did prior. i put in a 4.5k resistor, may try a 7k later today.

just tried it with a resistor that was slightly less than 7k and i say thumbs up! smoother power, although feels like i lost a little of what i have left in the low ranges. the a/f gauge is reading better than it was before with a 4k and with none at all. is it just me or would this mod make your car sound slightly different?

VARIABLE RESISTOR ARE A DIME A DOZEN. SO WHY NOT JUST BUY ONE AND ADJUST TO YOUR HEARTS CONTENT? IF YOUR LOSING LOW DOWN POWER...PUT A RELAY INLINE SO IT'LL BE IN THE CIRCUIT ONLY WHEN YOUR AT A GIVEN RPM/BOOST/WHICHEVER YOU CHOOSE.

warning ! your caps lock button will self destruct in 5.. 4...3...
yea i was thinking of that. im going to buy a rheostat and try that, also potentiometers for my idle controller too! im debating if i could have an in cabin adjustment for this.
edit: jones you say your a/f is reading better at all ranges or just high end?

There is no way in hell an A/F gauge on the stock O2 sensor is going to show any changes this mod makes to mixtures.
So far all I'm hearing is "it feels better/worse" and "I think it's faster". Why doesn't someone do some proper testing? Say 0-60mph acceleration runs, six runs in opposite directions (to cancel wind and incline effects), with and without the resistor.

yeah i suspect the a/f guage on a stock O2 won't be absolutly correct. it may be a coincidence, but when i put the 7k resistor in the af at WOT read one green into rich where as with nothing it reads 2-3 bars in.

The ECU uses it for a totally different purpose than this. It is very good at doing what it was designed to do (telling the ECU whether the AFR is above or below stoichiometric), but it is not very good at what many people mistakenly think it can be used for (reading full-load AFR).

i isntalled the 75dregree resister and my car went to crap after 6000 rpm i was makin no power at all u juss felt the car shut off.. but i installed it on the wire farthest to the right because in the instructions it said the green/orange wire or w.e well idk if it was the heat becaus ei live in palmdale in the high desert and it was a hot day but the car seemed *** if it was running 50% power nyway just wonderin if i made a mistake wiring or it was the weather and the 75 was juss to much for the lack of and hot air entering the car

same here.. i installed a variable resistor with a 20k ohm capacity... ive noticed that changing the resistor value seems to affect the idle much like the idle mixture screw... green/orange wire.
seemingly, the car made no additional power, and im not sure if i need to be running any richer.
