AIR PUMP REMOVAL (I am lost....)
Okay I read some threads about air pump removal, and I only have a few questions if someone would be kind enough to help me. First question: What is a series 4, series 5 motor? And if I have an 87 N/A, what do I need to do to remove the air pump? Just remove it?

i can help you out. the series iv is in the 86-88 rx7s while the series v is in the 89-91. the v is more powerful by about 12-20 hp in both the turbo and NA. they are very different and arent really interchangable. so when u buy parts, make sure its for the right series. most people dont get this so just make sure the yrs match up in its respective series.
the air pump simply just needs to be unbolted and put a block plate over it. thats all i had to do. hope that helps.

hold on a sec there,
the airpump can be removed fairly easily but you dont want to take it off if you still have your cats. it pumps fresh air into them to keep them at the correct temp (i think) but if you do take the airpump off with cats on it will most likely clog your cats, so take off your cats or knock them out and jerk away. unlike the series 5 our 5th and 6th ports are actuated by backpressure from the exhaust and not the airpump

get the RB header and mid-pipe, i like them much better. and then with a full exaust (i like apexi personally) you can be good for as much as 50 hp! ive heard more and less, but its around that area i think. i need to get my car dyno'd, but dude, i felt a kick *** power gain! the bonez pipe uses the stock exaust manifold right? well, if its that one, id ditch it.

i got rid of mine and ive got a series V. see, what the air pump does in the V is open the actuators, and feed the cats air. well, i dont have cats, and i dont have the actuators anymore! you could either wired the 5th and 6th ports open, or you could pull the whole sleeve out, and plug it up. i did the latter, but i smoothed the transition with some metal putty. either way, you lose that weight you wanna lose...
