air pump removal

I need to know if the air pump is still needed on a car that has its cat and stock exhast replaced with a complete header back change. I seem to remember some one suggesting that the air pump also helps to put pressure into the intake to help compensate for low idle on an automatic car. Pollution testing is not needed for this car.

air pump is for emissions only. so removing it will not affect the car at all, its mostly just an eye sore.

you might want to actually search before you ask though next time.

Doesn't the air pump operate the auxiliary port actuators on S5 cars?
If so , that would make it more than just an emissions related eyesore.

backpressure from the exhaust operates the 5th/6th ports, NOT the air pump. thats why you have to make some sort of RPM based switch to activate them after you install an aftermarket exhaust. that was also covered in the link I posted

S5's use the airpump to activate the VDI and AUX Ports

crap, my bad, I guess its only on s4 cars that they use exhaust backpressure.

still, a simple RPM switch will fix that.
