Air pump removal
As the FC project plugs along....I was wondering what I need to do to remove the air pump. What needs to be taken care of in order to do so. Thank you in advance.

umm, not 100% sure here. But i think you just unbolt it, take off the belt. And take out the loose wires. IF nothing is connecting to the exhaust cats. And the vacuum line is connected to the race pipe, i dont know what else to state, i'm kinda wondering too. Because i need to take it off too

removing the air pump is a simple thing. Just unblot and take it off. From your other posts and all, I'm assuming you can get the air pump out. Then all you need to do it block off all the new leaks (pretty simple with plugs or caps). You'll probably want to get a dual sheave pulley for the alternator. That way you can run another belt (mine's 31.5" if that helps you later) to the water pump. Without the second belt on the water pump, it may slip at higher RPMs, which is never a good thing

I meant, did I need to port....or will the TII be fine. I've heard rumors that you don't have to have it ported to remove the air pump. Does anyone know if it's true.

Best path to remove the air pump is to simply unbolt and huck that sucker, then remove the air control valve and install a block-off plate where it was. You have to have NO cats to do this, BTW.
You can run just one belt for the alternator/water pump, but you really need to use a quality Dayco belt or the like - cheap belts WILL slip. Long-term, you do need a dual-belt pulley and two belts - if one of the belts break, you lose your water pump and alternator, which is Way Bad. Redundancy here is good.
The air pump doesn't affect how the car runs at all - it does help with some afterburn and backfiring, but that's the fun part .
