air pump question

air pump question

on my 1987 n/a can i do a complete emmissions delete? if i take out the air pump is it going to affect anything? and what do i need to do to delete the air pump? I have been researching but i havent been able to find what im looking for. thank you for opinions =)

1. yes.

2. yes. if you still have the catalytic converters, removing the air pump is bad, the converters need to be removed first. you also should remove the Air Control Valve (ACV), its the thing the air pump pumps into, and install a block off plate.

3. a 12mm socket wrench. 10mm socket to remove the ACV

Search thread titles for "emissions removal" or terms to that effect.

An S4 NA can ditch the air pump if you're also removing the cats and other emissions related components. But when the air pump is removed, the water pump pulley will be able to slip due to lack of belt contact. There are 2 solutions: a double sheave alternator pulley, or a "yoohoo" belt, which goes around the main pulley and water pump pulley.

sweet thank you much =) where would be a good place to get a block off plate or should i just make one? and for the cat i just meed to add a piece of exhaust pipeing to get rid of it?
