Air Pump opens the six ports or not??

Still a little confussed. Does the air pump open the 5 and 6 ports on a N/A 1988. I done a little search and I receive mixed results. some say that the air pump does open them and others say that they are controled by back pressure. I thought the air pump was for emissions and the air tube off of the cat opens the 5 and 6 port from back pressure. Is this correct or not???

86-88 NA's use exhaust backpressure to open em.

89-91 use the air pump

You don't have 5th/6th ports on a 13BT

the only thing it will effect is that your cat will probably overheat and distroy itself...

which isn't that big of a deal anyway! Rip those cats out of your car to free upi the exhaust, if you dont hve emitions in you area.

If you dont have enough backpressure to open em up then do what im gonna do. Buy a pre-silencer, that will give you enough backpressure to open those son's a bitches up!

So does this mean that the 89+ don't have the split air tube on their cats?
