Air pump in my 88 TII

Is it a good idea to remove the air pump in a 88 TII? I've heard of people doing it and was wondering what you might gain from removing it. Does the air pump have anything to do with the turbo itself? Are there any sensors on the pump that if removed could cause problems?

Any answers to these questions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Derek

I think you should be able to remove the pump, not sure what it does on the turbo tho.

ONly remove it if you remove your cats, otherwise they will get clogged up and fail.
