air pump mounting bracket...ok to remove?

There are three bolts holding on the upper mounting point (pivot point) for the air pump.. They go "into" the filler neck..sorta.. I just want to make sure that there's nothing actually important that they support before I remove them, and the bracket.

Yeah. their not holding anything else up. I think mazdatrix uses the bolt holes for an engine torque brace.

Sweet.. I'll yank it off.. Can anyone confirm the mazdatrix engine torque brace? I know the RB one mounts in the rear of the engine, but I was considering trying my hand at some fab work, and that would make a nice little project.. Easy to mount, too!

If you look at the mazdatrix web page, there is a pic of their strut brace w/ the engine torque brace that mounts to it

I actually used these pictures to fabricate a strut tower brace. I turned out very nice + made the car feel more responsive. I always meant to add the engine torque brace but wasn't sure how I'd dampen it.

I was talking to a friend of mine who races spec 7s and he said that some drivetrain windup is actually benifical to acceleration. (Why I wanted to dampen it) I though of maybe using something like the swaybar link off a 1st gen. They are basicly a rod with some rubber bushings sandwiched between the tab at the end of the sway bar.

If you end up fabricating the brace yourself, please post some pics out on the forum. I'd like to see what you come up with
