So, when I bought this RX, it's an 86, the air pump was removed... I've been told that's a, "street," thing to do. What all does removing it do and how?

Also, what do you need to do to the car after you remove the pump to make it run fine?

One last thing, my car dies really easliy unless it's warmed up. Especially after de-acceleration. Dad says it could be a choke problem. Any ideas on what I would have to do would be nice.
