The belt to the Air Pump fell off today and I didnt notice it till I got home. I was wondering first of all what the heck the air pump does and is it must I have it. Also I havent had the air conditioner belt on and was wondering if that would through off balance or not. Plz help quickly.

 

just replace the belt. Nothing major will happen. Probably nothing minor either. It mainly pumps air to the cat and also dumps a bit of air in right after the exhaust ports to burn the unburned gasses. like I said, nothing major; just replace it

HEH what i did (with recommendation of peers ) was just remove the air pump unit all together, along with the a/c compressor. opens ur engine up and makes it look nice. plus less weight = more horse even if it is a couple pounds. If you love mother earth and dont wanna kill the ozone dont remover it since i does have to do with emissions i guess.
