Question air pump drive belt

88, N/A, there is a bolt to adjust the belt tightness for the air pump....I broke the bolt. The pump is still secured by the bracket, but I can't keep a belt tight. Do I need a belt....i.e. is the air pump necessary?

It isn't necessary for the car to run, just for emissions, but the belt also runs the water pump, I think, so you'll have to do sumpin' about the pulleys/belts.
Also needed to operate 6th ports.
