Air pump air line

I currently have my air line from the pump going into my custom intermediate pipe where the main cat was. I have a small exhaust leak and was going put new exhaust gaskets in everywhere and replace the intermediate pipe so my question is do I even need to have the air pump line going into the exhaust or can I just let it blow in the engine compartment? I know the air pump operates the 6 ports and VDI but does the air line need to go anywhere or can it just blow straight out of the pump?

If you have no cat it can blow out into atmos. Just make sure you do what you need to for the 6-ports and VDI as you mentioned.

Do I just need to have the air pump hooked up to open the VDI & 6 ports? Is that all? no line hook up needed?
