Air (Port) Control Check Valve
Hello All,
Underneath the Air (Port?) Control Valve is the gasket to the lower intake manifold and the Check Valve (small disk shape). Since I have the Air Control Valve off I'm wondering if I can check the check Valve before I put everything back together. Additonally, is there anything else I might do with the Air Control Valve while it is off to clean or check it? (This is the device fed by the Air Pump.
I understand that this device is a likely candidate for not passing emissions and emissions is what caused the previous owner to park the car.
I'm just hoping to be as thorough as possibly while I've got things apart. I can add that the very short time I had the car running before I took things apart to get the Aux. Port Valve Actuators (among other things) to operate, the car started fine and simply had a low idle that acted like it wanted to die. I suspect this was likely due to the old plugs, car sitting for 9 years, etc. etc. So, I don't necessarily suspect anything with the Air Control Valve specifically.
Also, if I do need to replace the Check Valve, does anyone know a supplier and what it should cost?
Thanks in advance for any information. Jeff

Yes, the check valve can be checked, but it involves wrapping your lips around it. () You should be able to either suck or blow, but not both. If you can do both, it needs to be replaced.

It's just a piece of rubber with a rivet thru it's middle and allows air to flow in one directiion only.
Clean with a rag with alchohol on it or gasoline and dry it off. They do gather a bit of carbon from the exhaust over a long period of time.
See post #3 above for an ops check.
