For an unmodified non-turbo engine, I recommend simply sticking with the stock "cold air" intake.

If you really want a good intake and you are willing to spend a LOT of money, you have 3 good choices:
1) Convert to a standalone EMS and individual throttle body intake manifold.
2) Convert to a standalone EMS, replace the entire intake tract with a K&N cone filter and straight pipe attached to the intake manifold elbow, and build a box or deflector around it to keep the radiator discharge air away from the inlet.
3) Convert to a racing carburetor intake system.

If you bought a simple cone filter kit, the main difference is that the S4 requires an adapter. It is possible that you could just ditch the adapter and attach the remainder of the kit directly to the airflow meter, depending on which kit you bought.

I did this to my 91 NA and it's working out fine so far.
Total cost was $2 (not including filter which you have anyway) and some scrounge time at the junkyard.
It's also totally reversible.

Making no performance claims but it didn't hurt and the filter is undeniably pulling ambient air unsullied by radiator outflow.

Or - build a cold air / ram air box like this:

The ram air idea is suppose to ram, air into the intake system. That is highly doubt is a "ram air" intake. You may be getting fresh air force into the air box but it will easily escape into the engine bay.

To the OP. Keep the stock intake, unless you were ported and open exhaust, then I would build a very low restrictive air intake.

talking about exhaust, whats the silver coating on the rb parts..... its so.. silvery... lol

well prelude intake pipe works too, but i dunno if u can tilt the s5 afm or not... besides, you can replace the whole thing and... your afm will still be the restriction.. lol

can someone confirm if the s5afm can be tilted or not?

carb setup isnt that expensive... i got a full running setup for sale, all u need is hoses and wires and maybe switches, but i might have those too lol.

S5 afm is less effected by tilting then the S4 afm. Both should still be level.

I wouldn't put prelude intakes on a T2 at all. I bet you would loose PSI with them since they seem to be about 2.5" ID.

On an n/a, you probubly won't notice any power difference with a stock port n/a.

Correct, that intake in the picture would have no ram air pressure rise. However, "ram air" can also simply mean that it utilizes airflow from the wind or the relative wind from an object in motion. For example, windmills, wind socks, and parafoils are types of ram air devices. This is how the car and aftermarket parts manufacturers can advertise their non-pressurizing scoop as "ram air" without getting sued.

True. The "Ram Air" phrase for automotive is usually used to say air is forced into the intake system. I suppose marketing tends to bend the truth

I realized I added one to many words in my last post.

When did you build that? It looks exactly the way mine is except you were smart in keeping the AFM level and keeping the stock into tube to reduce vibrations to the AFM. I will be putting my stock tube back on probubly sometime soon.

Apexi is to expensive. Go with K&N or similar. I would find a large cone filter that has a lot of surface area for less restriction

Mine is 2 3/4 inch intake chrome piping from the intake adapter behind the bumper. It has a k&n air filter and a HKS intake adapter to the AFM.
