Air intake 2nd gen n/a

I know there lot's on this on the search....way too much to follow...
Anyway...after searching on this on the forum I realized that the Racing Beat K&N Air Intake for a 2nd Gen n/a was not that good.... if it's set up just "as is"...under the hood (Air Intake get's only hot air). Therefore, I removed it and put back the original Air Intake.

Well to bad so sad...after spending $$$ on this, I should of did my home work first.

Very simple question...will this "RB - Air Intake" fit anywhere, like inside the front of the right wheel well..with pipes...or do I need to get a smaller Air Intake??

The RB one, for a 2nd gen is oval in shape, quite big, and I was wondering if I need to get a smaller one...I hope not... after so many $$$$.

Any advise...

what you could/should do is just buy a prelude CAI from ebay cut the end off and stick your AFM in between it. if you have s4 then your fine but s5 you need to split the valve on the intake tube because s5 intake tubes have 2 vaccum lines. then buy a cone filter from advanced auto or if you really want to buy a nice APEXI or greddy intake and slap it one......followed by a cold air box. make your own or you can get a nice one from mariah motorsports.

You'll need:

1 (one) 3.5" to 3" coupler.
3-4 3" to 3" couplers.
Quality filter.

That should do it!

Good luck hombre.

is there any cold air intakes already made for the rx7? (86') or do you have to make one? I use the k&n oval shape air intake... i just recharged it and it works better, i can actually feel more power, hear it sucking air, and has more mpg's... if i can get my hands on a cold air intake. That would be nice... i am in need for some more hands on stuff...

Corksport just came out with one for a S4, and theres a couple companies that make heatshield boxes that should work just as well. They all cost like $150+ though, so it would probably be in your better interests to make your own.

K&N's FIPK system doesn't increase horsepower once your engine is up to temp. It's sucking in the hot engine bay air and decreasing HP. After forking over 200$'s and hearing it you think you increase the power.

Only Mariah motorsports (http://www.mariahmotorsports.com) and VinSpeed has a premade intake.

Corksport just has an intake pipe to replace the stock rubber peice going from the TB to the stock AFM. It's hardly a cold air setup.

You'll have to make your own that would need:

Constant supply of cool (dense) air AND it needs to be perfectly isolated. A little opening will let air into the heatsheild and totally void the entire idea of doing it.

I still want that box. I'll see what happens if you do produce them, considering I'm just about ready to make a fenderwell intake. This changes all.

Hey RX Drift, what is that material that surrounds the filter? thats a nice way to set it up even after you took out the old air intake... you used it to be directed towards the filter... ahh darn i took mine off... i like the way its set... so is that the way cold air intakes look on RX7's? just put it aside from the engine in the corner? There's no way to put it down right in front of the wheel? I havent taken a close look... but nice ^^

how do you hook that Prelude CAI to the TB elbow, do you just shove the coupler in there?

Thanks

I think that is roof flashing. The scoop from the old airbox is functional to, it feeds air in like it use to.
