Air fuel ratios

Hey guys/gals,

I need to know what kind of airfuel ratios are safe on a rotary....mine were 11.8to1 on the sniffer from the dyno. I need to kno what is safe and whats not. thanks

that's about where you want it for a street car. you could run leaner and get some more power but you would be closer to the edge. one bad tank of gas and you might say bye bye.

I asume that was WOT? what was your boost at? HP number?

hey guys i just got a a/f gage and im just wandaring were it should be reading? sometimes at an idle it will be like 1 bar above lean and others it will be eather inthe middle of rick and lean and others its 1 bar rich. whats up with that? can anyone tell me if thats normal or what? also can anyone tell me how to richen the mixture out some? any help will be geat.

it tells you that either A) you have the factory computer still trying its best to run your motor and OR B) you have a narrow band O2 sensor which is crap anyway

please explain the diff between narrow band and alternative seeing as I am puttin on a A/F gauge soon.

11.5-11.8 is a good safe number. For more power as much as 12.5. Anything beyond and you will be in for some trouble.

Hailers jsut read that article. Way over my head and I work on electonics. So what oxygen sensor would I need to buy to use my Autometer gauge? I know I am retarded but please help me out.

Autometer gauges are just fine for accuracy if you only want to observe stoichometer which I think is around .4 volts. Any reading above that will be inaccurate and any reading below that will be inaccurate. How high and how low above and below that figure I know not. I never bought one because I came to the conclusion it ain't worth it. I use a cheap digital meter to read mine on occasion. Finaly came to the conclusion that I need a wideband sensor and meter, and decided to buy the one from Austraila from DIY. I forget the name right now. Away from my home computer. EDGETECH is the name but I don't have the url right now. Anyway, back to the subject. If I read .9 on a Autometer or whatever meter, what good is that info if its the wrong info?????????? Must be some good because so many people have those meters on this site, but I can't figure what good it is. Read this thread https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...threadid=47104
