air fuel Gauge..Questions.
Well I thought I knew alot..but when it comes to this..I need help!..(Good to ask when you don't Know, isn't it?)..anyhow,a buddy gave me an Air fuel Gauge,Just the Gauge..What do I need to make it work..do I need a Wide Band Sensor?..Where do I Place it(sensor)?.Can I take out the O2 and run it there?..I have an 86 with stock Ignition(N/A) with one MSD Box.Thanks Guys.STYX.
You run a wire from it to pin 2D on a series four car. That's pin 2D of the ECU. It's the 02 sensors input wire to the ECU.
The other wires? Got me. If it's an Autometer, just go to the AutoMeter home page and download the instructions.
Most likely it's not a wideband gauge or he would not GIVE it to you.

Thanks Hailers.I fully appreciate the info.I Will post the Make of the gauge, and get more Info from the Gentleman who was So kind to Donate it to me.If it happens to be a Wide band gauge though, how would that Change things?..What would I have to do then to Install this?.I realize you are a Busy man,so I hope you can Answer this too.(or someone who Know's their Stuff!.).Thanks again Guys..STYX.
I have a cheapo summit racing a/f gauge. it basically has 3 wires. One is +, the other is -, and the third is an input from the O2 sensor.
The thing to know, is that you shouldn't try and tune your car using a narrow band O2 sensor. If you hook it up to your stock O2, it will mostly just be eye candy, because stock O2 isn't that useful.
I don't know if you can hook a wideband up to the O2, would have to check the manual for the gauge.
I am going to buy a UEGO off ebay and use that. It is wideband + gauge for about $150.
The + on the gauge should be hooked to a switched +, like the switched + in the dash that turns the radio on, or something like that. So that it isn't on unless the car is on ACC.
The - can be just run to the ground, or chassis. Finally, the O2 wire should be wired to the ECU's O2 signal.
Good luck!

The non-wide band one I have has a purple, black, and red wire. the purple goes to the ECU pin the Busy HAILERS fully mentioned, while the black is ground, and the red is switched 12V. A wide band would change things because you need at least a compatible wide band sensor, and at most a compatible wide band sensor and control box. Most likely you got a narrow band though!

u have a narorwband and it is not that great it will give u a rough idea of how your car is running but only at wot not during idle or during cruising...
u hook one wire to the o2 sensor 1 to + and one to ground..
save your money and buy a wideband...
and I have never seen a wideband for 150.00 I think I sell the kit for if not the cheepest but within 5-10.00 I sell the AEM UEGO FULL kit for 290.00 shipped looks in my for sale thread if u are interested
