air fuel controller for intermediate tuner?

hey guys, i havent decided what im going to do about my air fuel control. i dont have any backround at all when it comes to doing this. I have acces to a dyno but i think a stand alone is intense for me. Some people have mentioned the f-con (which is pre programmed i believe??) or an safc2 which i've never used. I just installed my walbro pump and my 720 sec's should be here soon. my fmic is in allready a long with my boost controller and ignition. My 3" exhaust is all done, i'm yet to touch to boost settings and want to know what you guys recomend to someone who has never used a device like this before. i know the guys at the shop i get my parts through(where the dyno is) know how to use them but they dont know a lot about tuning rotaries, thanks for the help i just dont want to blow up my very fresh s5 t2 motor (15000 miles)

Depending on your goals, there are a number of air/fuel modifiers availiable. It all really depends on what the goals of the car are.

standalones would be fine, as most of them come with a base map or you can download one...then just change what you know how to change. I recommend the Megasquirt...you have to build it, but you can download a base map for it and its one of the cheapest standalones out there. s-afcII is a good unit, ive never had any experience with the fcon, so i dont know about that one

you may want to look into the new rtek 2.0...they modify your stock ecu...so it's all plug n' play. It has alot of the features of a stand alone...it'll act just like a stock ecu...until you make changes, which you can do through a software program you can run from your pda and hook into the ecu to program.
