Air filter: still good or need a new one?

What do you reckon? Taking a look at my Apexi Power intake this evening and it's probably seen a few better days. Wondering if its still ok and just got normal use on it, or whether it's gonna be strangling my car a bit and needs replacing. Have got an idea myself but wondering what you folks think.

My Sard filter is way way dirtier than your apexi, and I believe it works okay.

I don't honestly know, but if in doubt throw it out.

the mesh being bent like that will not hurt it at all, as long as there are no holes in the filter material. Depending on what material the filter is made out of you can clean it, but if its just some kind of paper/cardbord i would throw it out. but as far as i can see that filter has a bit more life left in it and if the dirt it has on it is bothering you, use a vaccume. sorry i dont know what material that filter is made out of. and if you try the air filter recharge kits, use as little "oil" as possible, it will gunk up the MAF somthing bad if to much is used. best of luck.

P.S I NEVER use K and N filter charger kits. ever. makes no sense to cover the filter in oil...it atracts more dirt.

Te filter is an Apexi "dry" type filter, and so oil shouldn't be used at all. It is paper based and most people say you should just blow out the grime from the inside using an airline. Guess that's what I'll do - will save me a bit of money I can spend elsewhere!

+1 the shape doesn't matter. Whether or not the beating it takes means there are holes or dirt is another issue. But not as far as I can tell.

if its a paper element blowing it out with pressurized air will destroy the small passeges in the fibers so it wont filter near as well. think about it
