haha you could always cut a piece of an old shirt and hose clamp it on the filter adapter. thats what my friend does.....high flowing and free!! but then again he's always been considered an idiot.

You bring up an interesting paradox. Only a successful person would listen to your advice, while an unsuccessful person would lack the motivation, responsibility, or work ethic to perform what you suggest. Poor people are that way for a reason. I just think it's too bad that some of them are so bitter.

The problem went away and never came back. The problem started shortly after installing the K&N.
The dealership just used the myth as an excuse to cover their faulty product. I also had a MAF sensor failure on one of my vehicles, and the dealership tried to blame it on the K&N filter too. Fortunately, I had the knowledge base to press them on the issue, and also a sales receipt that showed the filter was purchased AFTER I called them to make the appointment to fix my vehicle.

If you think about it, were there any real damage from the filter, the automotive manufacturer would have documented the damage and sued K&N appropriately, after which K&N would have added a disclaimer to all of their filters stating that they are not to be used in vehicles with a hot wire MAF.

And if all that still doesn't convince you, my MAF sensor replacement was covered under warranty just like yours, and I think we both know very well that there is no way in Hell any car dealership would have done that if it were really the fault of an aftermarket product.

Some of the Ebay filters have been known to collapse and/or tear, especially on turbocharged cars. Some of the Ebay filters work great. The problem is that you usually don't know which is which, and most Ebay sellers do not stand behind their product. I think it takes much more effort to make a smart purchase on Ebay vs. the conventional marketplace.

Also, if you think the K&N filters are "messy", they you are oiling them WAY too much!

I just want to reiterate the fact that rotary engines are VERY sensitive to particles coming in through the intake. You will kill your engine if you get a shitty filter.
I ran without a filter in the engine bay for a little over a year. I can't see them being any more sensitive to particles then piston engines unless your seals are excessivly warn and possibly about to roll out
