Air didn't work

Is there a proper way to get the eccentric shaft bolt off?! I can not for the life of me, get that motherfcuker off!! I tried to use a breaker bar, torched and tried impact. It just won't come off. Do any of you guys have any other suggestions?!! There's no flywheel so nothings holding it from the rear. But that shouldn't matter much, should it?

i coudntn't get mine off...took it to a local goodyear shop...they had at it with a new 1000ft lb impact...nothing. then the guy came out with the biggest impact gun i have ever seen, cranked on it for about 10 seconds and it finally came off. they can be a bitch to get off. take the motor to a shop that works on semi trucks or something.

If you really did use a torch then you just didn't have it on long enough. You have to keep it on for a good while to break down the loctite. Keep it on for a few minutes then immediately try to take it off with the breaker bar. Just make sure that you have some way of keeping the thing from rotating.

Use an oxyacetylene torch on the head until it begins to glow dull orange and then about 2-3 minutes more. The pulley/hub/oil seal should be starting to smoke some by now. Then hit it with the strongest impact you have and it will zing right out. More often than not I have to use the torch.

Will do. The nut wasn't glowing when I torched it.

I put mine in gear and chalked the tires, then used a metal bar on top of the breaker bar. Worked for me. At first I though I snapped it of because of the noise it bade breaking loose

Easy way to stop it from rotating if it's on the stand is to bolt a short length of chain from a pressure plate bolt to a tranny mounting bolt. In the car I took a length of 1/4" steel plate and bolted it to front pulley after notching it to fit and let it rotate to the powersteering or A/C tensioner pulley where it locked in place. Than went to town w/a breaker bar.

I guess I've been lucky, only once did the impact gun not work and that was solved above

Mine came off with my impact gun. My impact gun is only rated at 750 ft. lbs. though. So, maybe get one of those?

I had one FD block that no amount of heat, impact, or leverage could get off. At one point we had about 3 guys and 1200ft-lb trying to break the bolt loose but all that happened was that the pipes bent and the sockets broke. I finally had to cut the e-shaft in half again to get it apart.

all i did was put a rather large wrench.. (i have a huge XXL mario-bros style wrench lying around, i just wedged it between my flywheel and the block through the small opening on top near the oil pedestal.

O_o

I heard that if you weld some think pipes into an almost V shape, you can get a lot of torque out of the end.

Next time, switch the impact gun to TIGHTEN FIRST, PLEASE. Hold impact gun on for 2.0137659893 seconds. Switch the gun to LOOSEN! Then hold gun on for .7987543865789 seconds and smile. If these steps do not work, post again and I will explain how to use the engine to simplify things!

well if you have a bad rotor like me, you can always wedge something through the exhaust port.. i had a pryer that i just sliped in my rear housing that jammed up the rotor which in-turn kept it from turning. and i just my weight to keep the engine down..
i used my large 3 ton jack tube (its about as long as your leg probably)
and i just used my big ratched and pulled up towards me while i held the engine down with my weight.

Holding the engine from rotating is not usually the problem. After all mazda does make a flywheel stopper, or you can simply bolt on a metal bar onto the flywheel to keep it from spinning.

Getting enough torque onto the front bolt is another matter.

The guy above is probably going to suggest using the starter motor and a breaker bar with the engine mounted in the car. I personally like my fenders and paint the way they are, and I don't really see the usefulness of that trick to those 99% of us who would be trying to take the engine apart OUTSIDE of the car.

Spam bot.... heh.

I have heard that sticking a screw driver in the exhaust is a bad idea because it can mess some of the internal stuff up.

High power impact wrench.

ok my dad somehow got it free. all i know was that it involved him grinding 2 flat spots on the sides of my new 19mm deep socket, a monkey wrench, 10ft piece of pipe and a couple pieces of chain attaching it to my wheel so the engine stand didnt move. ill try to get more info on this when i get home from work.. maybe a picture or two just for some laffs.

Thanks for all the responses.
