air control valve wirering

that black clip in that picture is not connected, does anyone know where it connects to?

I can't see photobucket images from work- but the wire coming from the ACV with a black connector is the Port Air Solenoid connection; the ones with a white connector on the end are the Split Air Solenoid connection. You don't need to worry about the port air solenoid being hooked up unless your car is under 20k miles (not likely...), from what I've read it has a tendency to burn out and toast parts of the ECU anyway so I just leave it unhooked. Both the connections from the ACV hook up to the wiring harness that feeds from the passenger side firewall and forward around the engine.

Actually for a while I belied that also. But not so.

See the attached jpg concerning the Port Air Solenoid.

Anytime it reads below approx 2vdc, that means it is Energized and is Open.

According to the jpg this will be anytime over 20,000 miles. You could just unscrew the solenoid and remove the poppet. The reinstall without the poppet. That means it will be open all the time forever.

well on mazda trix it says if it is not working properly causeing backfireing on deceleration and a few other thing all of witch im im having

One....Mazdatrix does not know what they're talking about.......or Two, they're talking about another thing all together.

They could be talking about the ACV itself. Let it be known, the the Port Air Solenoid is energized all the time and the Split Air Solenoid is only engaged when your in fifth gear.

On the whole the ACV operated off the Switching solenoid (grey plug) and the Relief solenoid (blue plug) located on the left side of the engine.

Backfiring is supposed to be taken care of by the Anti Afterburn valve INSIDE the ACV and is not operated by any of the solenoids at all. It is operated by vacuum put on its diaphram when you let off the throtte. That opens its diaphram to let airpump air into the INTAKE manifold, to help prevent afterburn.

That's what little I know about the ACV. I'm sure Mazdatrix is a talkin about the anti afterburn valve inside the ACV.

Those suckers cost a bunch, don't they??? Say yes. And MOST turbo ACV have their diaphrams cooked in my humble opinion. Cooked is not good. Like don't hardly work no more.

well my only question is where in the engine ay does it connect to its just a prolem and im trying to put everything in the car where it elongs, loose wires just bug me

The mating plugs for both in the picture are located near the water filler neck give or take a few inches. They're laying about somewhere in that area.
