Air control valve reistallation question!
#1
Today a friend and i had just reinstalled the rest of his emission equipment to the engine. And there is a few parts we are not quite certain on..
First of all we managed to hook up the 2 bigger piping pieces to the air pump and air chamber.. One of the parts we are not certian is that there is a pipe on the backside on the engine by the firewall coming out of the intake manifold, does that attach to the airsplitter leading to the cat. converter? If so then we got that part right...
Now the one i am really not certian about is there is a small pipe that is sticking out of the ACV pointing to the passanger side.. what does that pipe feed air to? We hooked it up to one of the small brass/copper/ some kind on metal piping thats bunched together(i believe its apart of the vacumm line stuff) now my question is which one does it connect to? and is it neseccary because he has the 6th prts tied open and the cold start/fast idle parts on the throttle body are taken off..
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated..And if there is anything else we have forgotten to do..
Also does anyone have or now were i can get pics of a stock throttle body and the ACV area?
Thanks!

Now the car will not idle! The car orginally had idle problems, fluctuating between 300 and 700 rpms.. Which maybe be due to the fact that it has no fast idle or cold start equipment on it.. But now like i said it will not at idle since the ACV and air pump has been connected.. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!
Thanks!

by small hose do you mean vaccum lines? there are 3 of them on it. they get hooked up to the vac rack.
but if you removed all the fast idle crap. did you remove the vac rack too? if so putting the ACV back on was pointless LOL...
why did you ever remove the airpump / ACV on an S5? you lose lots of power.

Scott 89t2 On the ACV I only saw 3 places for hoses.(its my lame car '90 GTU) 1. for the air pump, 2. for the air tube that runs back up to the front of the car, 3. a small one for a vacum line wich we hooked up to the brass spyder. I baught the car like this from Speedracer from here. it has the TB mod, VDI wired open, 6 ports wired open, no ACV, no cat, no air pump. So im juts trying to getting it back to normal opertating status. Also it feels like its loosing power in the higher RPM. I was driving the car a bit with the air pump not hooked up. So im hoping i didnt clog the cat. bear with me iunderstand that these mods are stupid for a S5, this is why im trying to return it to stock. Is there any other things that it needs to run? I do have a stock TB i can swap back in as well.

If it's a small nipple sticking out of the air inlet to the ACV, it provides low air pressure to operate the auxilliary ports and VDI on S5's. It ties into the vacuum spider and feeds into the two respective solenoids.
