Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Coolant Leak!!!

Ok, as I was wiring in my A/F ratio gauge today, I found a little (mabye a teaspoon) puddle of coolant under the passenger side carpet. I then ran the engine, and pulled the cap. FISSSSSSSSSSSSSS. So there is pressure in the system. I then looken all around the heater hose in the engine bay...no leak. The coolant system "seems" to be working fine. Any ideas???????????

Did you run it with the heater on? Only thing in the car is the heater core.

I assume you mean to run the heater to see if it gets hot in order to check for coolant system pressure? **** yeah, it works REALLY well.

My guess is your heater core is leaking (expensive) or like myself your valve for the heater is leaking (much cheaper). Take your car out with the heat up all the way, and drive hard. If you smell or see fluid on your feet. Time to replace parts, or not turn your heat on.

Well, I live in Texas, so no real need for heater. Anyway, how could this happen? Nothing leaked before I pulled the engine!! Is there anything I need to check, like a bad connection or something? ****...owning an older car is tedious.

Did you happen to remove one or both heater hoses from the firewall? Did you pull them or cutted off when you removed them? If you removed them did you reused and used the original hose clamps?

Remove the hosing for the heater and plug it. I did... I don't need that here in the Island...

I replaced 3 coolant hoses a little while ago. 2 were to the heater core. The one on the driver's side hadn't been tightened enough and was pissing out a tiny stream of coolant, which came into the car. When I turned on the windshield defroster, I could smell the coolant and the windshield would briefly mist.

So, yeah, as has been said check the coolant hoses at the firewall where they go into the heater core...
