aftermarket stereo

i just bought an aftermarket deck for my car.. heh i get employee discount, so i got a good one very cheap... with the wiring harness and isntall kit

but heres the question, how exactly do i remove the stock deck?

also, is there an amp in it, cause i want the power from the new deck to go directly to the speakers... so do i need to run new wires for the front and back? how do i know if there is an amp? cause it said "if" i have an amplified speakers on the FAQ for FC....

another question, what size is the front 2 speakers under the dash? how about the two near the hatch?

thanks

Pull up on the shifter boot trima, and pull it off. Pull out the ash tray, and remove the two screws behind where it was. carefully pry out the venter vents above the "hot-air cold air selector" (aka logicon) and remove the two screws at the top behind it. Disconnect the 4 attached wires at the cigarette lighter and the light for the cigarette lighter, and pull off that entire black trim piece.
You will now see 4 screws securing the stock metal brackets of the stock stereo to the dash. take them out, and pull out the stock stereo until you can reach and disconnect the wiring harness.

You will have two antenna wires... one is am, one is fm. The one that fits the aftermarket deck is the FM antenna (important one), but for the antenna to remain working, you will need to wire in a 4-pin 12VDC relay and wire it according to directions/pictures you will find after searching for "antenna relay" via the search function at the top right of your screen.

Run new wires. It will sound better.

Front dash speakers will fit 4". Rears will fit 6.5".

And yes, there is an amp in there already. You'll find it when you remove the passenger's side front speaker. They are both in the same box. Like the above post says, run new wires directly to your new speakers. It's the easiest way to bypass the stock amp.
