Aftermarket Gauges

OK i know this is a bit of a noob question but i am used to piston engines not rotaries. What gauges are needed for an S5 NA. I know for sure water temp and oil temp since the factory gauges are just dummy gauges. I am planning on road racing so what would i need to monitor. I have searched and most people already know what they need and just post what guages they bought.

I went with the main three, oil temp, coolant temp, and oil pressure.

+1.

Unless you have megabucks, I'd recommend VDO gauges...good quality, low price.
They make oil temp sending units that are a direct replacement for the oil pan drain plug which makes install very easy.

my VDO oil pressure is leaking. if you were to add one I'd make sure it's electric sensor.

I ordered mine (gauges and sending units) from egauges.
VDO drain plug sending unit part # is 323-055 (14 x 1.5mm).

Whatever i go with i am going to go with Autometer or some Defi gauges if i can find them or if they are any good. I wish i could go with some Aeroforce gauges like i have in my mustang but they run off the OBDII so that is a no go. Has anyone ever used Glowshift gauges, i see them on the ads here but noone in the mustang community really uses them so i do not know much about them.

Edit: found the Defi guages on Egauges.com

Oil pressure, temperature and Coolant temperature are what you need. I'm currently running Prosport gauges and am very happy with them.

Pic of my setup:

The brightness difference is more a trick of the camera than anything else, in person the prosports look very close to the oem gauges.
