aftermarket external fuel pump

I'm swaping a complete stock configuration 89 motor into my first gen.

I was wondering what you guys would reccomend for EXTERNAL aftermarket fuel pumps.

I'm also looking for somthing fairly affordable, so what would you guys reccomend?

Aeromotive 1000 hp pump with 100 micron SS screen pre-filter and 10 micron paper post-filter. 6 or 10 AN feed into a yblock, parallel fuel rails, FPR, and 6 AN return. Reference the FPR to the manifold and bypass the stock solenoid.

Similar to mine, except I run the 1200 hp Eliminator pump, 10AN feed into parallel 10AN custom fuel rails, into twin y-splitters for dual nitrous feed, into aeromotive "pro" series FPR, 10 AN return.

This will run you around $1000 for the system, and $350 for the pump itself.

I wouldn't run that pump unless you REALLY need that much fuel. I spoke with some aeromotive techs and they sent me some technical papers about their pump. First of all, this pump requires a lot of power. In doing so, you pump a LOT of fuel. What happens when you move stuff? You create friction. When you create friction, you create heat. So now you have a pump basicly launching fuel through the lines. A highly modified car would use about 1/3 to 1/2 of this pumps capabilities. Now you're wasting energy that our cars have very little to spare. You also have heated fuel. Which, A) reduces power (slightly) and B) gives the potential of vapor lock, there by shutting your car down until the fuel is back to proper temp. I'd use a smaller external bosch pump..do a search, you'll find it.

Oh yeah, aeromotive also has a controller that will knock the voltage down on the 1000hp pump as to not over tax it when it's not really needed...ie crusing, idle..etc. But by the time you add all that stuff up, you could have just bought a walbro or 2 if you really needed it and used the rest for saving for a haltech or a tein suspension...or whatever.

ok, I dont need a pump that produces for 1000hp..... thats quite a bit of overkill.

I just need an external pump that has similar specs. to the stock pump that is external.

I was looking at a GSL-SE fuel pump... but they are $350 new.

I also saw some holly's on schucks site but I dont know if they would meet the requirnments I need.

Any other ideas?

check srx7's web page. I believe they sell the external bosch pumps. You can also modify that pump to be used as an internal.
