Question Aftermarket BOV installation

Are there any universal BOV's that are easier to install than other, some that don't require welding, or even ones that will bolt on without modifications to the piping? I've debated picking one up and keep seeing posts about BOV's costing "only $100", but those seem to be universal ones that need some time to install. Any info for the aftermarket BOV rookie?

hey i see your from PA too. Me and my brother both bought Turbo XS blow-off valves. It was real easy to hook up and we didnt weld it. Just use the tube that connects to the blow off valve then buy a bolt or something to block off the hole at the TID. I can try to get a pick for u later today if i can.

It's REALLY easy - you can just remove the stock BOV from the 90 degree rubber elbow, stick the TurboXS BOV in the elbow, and clamp down. Done.

A better solution is to get the TurboXS flange welded on - find a welding shop in your area, and they can do it for *nothing* usually - like $10 or so, tops, especially if you pay cash.

But, the clamp-on method works just great.

Either the Type S or Type H will work just fine - RX-7's don't typically run a boatload of boost like some cars, so you don't have to have a super mongo BOV. The Type H (I think that's the "big" one) works great even on street cars - blows off nice and smooth at any load, never surges. I haven't seen any problems with the other one (the S, I think) as well.

Speaking of, many times on Ebay I've seen people selling used BOV kits from Japan that come with the BOV and the pipe that goes from the turbo to the intercooler for cheap - might want to check that out.
