I'm finding it pretty darn useless going to the local parts stores for anything that involves my Rx7. They never have anyhting and if they can get it, it would take 6 weeks to get it in because their factory doesn't even have it.

Yeah, advance auto parts can at least order parts and have them in a day or so.
NAPA tends to be overpriced though... I usually just go there for specialized tools or fasteners, hoses, etc.

Ever heard of a Mazda dealer? 
Some dealers are better then others but if you walk in with the part number in hand (see the FAQ for parts catalogs) then it's a painless process. Generally on OEM parts it's hard to beat Mazdas prices.

most things you can only get OEM, some things like engine rebuild parts there is aftermarket sources that specialize in and for generic parts like belts, starters and alternators then most auto parts stores should have them or should be able to get them relatively quickly.
